The year 2022 in men’s fashion was all about denim, letterman jackets, hourglass tailoring, and men’s dresses. Winter this year is looking like the year of the long coat, chunky Chelsea-style boots, and surprisingly, purple. As the temperature drops, it’s time to start thinking about your winter wardrobe. From cozy coats to trendy accessories, our 2023 men’s winter fashion guide has everything you need to stay stylish and warm this season.
Let’s take a look at the 2023 men’s winter fashion guide and how you can adapt these styles to your wardrobe.

The long overcoat
Most of the major fashion houses have started their runway shows with the long overcoat, or as GQ calls it “The Anime Villian Overcoat”. They can be paired with almost anything and look good at any time of the day or night. If you want to go casual, it’s best paired with the staple in everyone’s wardrobe, jeans. If you want to go for a more non-traditional casual, the long overcoat over a hoodie and tapered linen trousers will do the trick. For a more formal pairing, you can’t go wrong with a long overcoat worn over a classic suit (see: Dolce and Gabbana 2023 Fall/Winter show).
The deconstructed suit
Speaking of suits, the deconstructed suit could be the alternative in the 2023 men’s winter fashion guide wardrobes this year. This is for the gentlemen who want a clean and sharp formal look but who want to add something different. The deconstructed suit brings a classy vibe but is relaxed at the same time because of its minimalist details.

Color of the season: Purple or “Cadbury Purple”
Purple in all shades has been a notoriously challenging color to wear, until now. Yet another trend that most fashion houses have agreed on is the color of the year, specifically Cadbury Purple.
The change of seasons sometimes means we tend to gravitate towards darker colors like brown and black, this year you can be unique and add some color to your winter wardrobe. A quick search for men’s wear gave me really good options ranging from leather jackets (see: JW Anderson) to purple sage suits to purple ties for those who only want to add a splash of color.
Dude Skirts
This trend has to be my personal favorite. I mean, who doesn’t love a man in a skirt? Last year was about dresses and this year dudes are wearing skits with big collared or faux fur jackets along with big manly leather boots or Chelsea boots (see: Robert Pattinson at the Dior show)
Should you want to be a fashion-forward gentleman, skirt trends this winter range from long denim skirts to floor-length tartan skirts paired with rugby shirts or if you haven’t been skipping leg day, pleated miniskirts (ASOS has amazing pleated skirts). For those of you who aren’t as adventurous the alternative would be the trouser skirt. Once again, ASOS wins in this trend.
Chunky Clogs
As a proud owner of chunky clogs, this would have to be my second favorite trend. Sneakers and biker boots will always remain staples of course but if you want to be a real fashion killer then clogs are the go-to shoe for the 2023 men’s winter fashion guide. To clarify, we’re not talking about the clog named after a certain reptile, we’re talking about embellished leather clogs. Pair with a soft jumper and loose trousers (another 2023 winter trend) to elevate your outfit.
