With the heat in full swing (which I really do not like), some or most of us tend to suffer from some awkward summer skin issues. Although these skin issues might not be that serious, they can still end up being annoying. But since luck is always on our side (sometimes), Prof. Dr. Elham Abd El Zaher, a Consultant for Dermatology and Venereology at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, is delighted to let us in on these crazy summer skin issues, as well as how to handle them, just in case we come across one or two.
Summer Skin Issues – How to Treat and Avoid
Sunburn
As one of the most common of the summer skin issues, sunburn occurs mostly to people with less melanin (people with light skin color). However, it can still occur to those with a darker skin color. And if you don’t know how to spot sunburn, well, it looks like a chemical burn with blisters.
How to Avoid/ treat a sun burn: It is essential to use sunscreen before exposure to the sun. After sun exposure, take a full body bath and after-sun moisturizing.

How to Avoid/ treat: Stop wearing thick clothes. A person should always wear light clothes and take a shower after sweating or being exposed to high temperatures.

Summer Acne
This skin issue mostly occurs to women who apply heavy makeup. The makeup blocks the pores and with the high temperature, the pores are unable to breathe.
How to Avoid/ treat: Scale back on the heavy makeup. Deep face cleaning is required during the summer. One should apply a light foundation and makeup, and it is also essential to clean the face properly after with a special cleanser.
Dry Skin
This, as we all know, is caused by dehydration.
How to Avoid/ treat: Always use skin moisturizers, and ensure you drink a lot of water.
