Her name is Abby, always standing in front of the mirror just like many young women her age. She wants to be an architect, while on the other she is forever putting on make-up and posing; for no one in particular I might add. She takes her own photos and doesn’t like sharing them.

Last night she shared these photos with me, and I requested her permission to post them on my new blog.

Why I’m I talking about her? Because she is one girl who never needs or requests for anyone’s approval on her beauty. She is beautiful, and many people say the same thing. Not to convince her, but just as a “by the way”.

The thing that gets me is the fact that she knows she is beautiful. Not because of her looks, but because she is happy with herself, and identifies with inner beauty. I always see beauty oozing out of her, way past her looks.

Sometimes when she is taking photos of herself, I tend to feel like she is trying to capture something way past her looks, something unseen. What she doesn’t know is that I can already see it everywhere around her.

Abby has been through a lot in her young life. She has gone through a lot of pain (that’s a story for another day), and she managed to come out on the other side smiling, her eyes shining bright and looking forward to another day.

When I see that strength in her, I see the beauty she is made up of, while others just see the physical beauty.

One day when she becomes an architect, I am positive everything she will design will be filled with beauty; both inside and outside; and that people will see whatever it will be and appreciate it.
