Things You Can do at Six Senses Laamu to Rediscover Maldives
Picnic on a Private Island for a Day

There’s a private island about 25 minutes away by speedboat. The good chefs can prepare a picnic basket (that’s if you are the eating type) which includes a light lunch you can enjoy under the coconut trees. The lagoon surrounding the island is too beautiful to pass, so snorkeling might be a good idea. And if you have no clue how to do it, like yours truly, just relax on the sun loungers and read a book or something.

Have a Massage Under the Stars

Who in their right mind can say no to this? If you really want to rediscover Maldives, then get that massage under the Maldives stars. Normally a special private cabana is set up on the beach for couples that wish to experience a romantic Six Senses Laamu signature massage whilst listening to the sounds of the waves.

Sweet Dreams

The Six Senses Laamu Resort has Integrated Wellness programmes that are designed to help you feel better and improve your quality of life. By going for the Sleep & Resilience programme, which starts with a Wellness Screening, you (yes you) will learn how to improve your quality of sleep. And if you are lucky enough to get into this sleeping-well routine, then a morning Pranayama session is the best way to start the day!

Snorkeling with Turtles

Rediscover Maldives: 10 Things You Can do at Six Senses Laamu ResortOk, sounds cliché and all but you can still rediscover Maldives together with the turtles, have a conversation etc. etc. Anyway, the Six Senses Laamu Resort has a new photo-identification process; meaning that the Resident Marine Biologists can now identify turtles. And there’s a new code of conduct that has been implemented on how to sustainably snorkel and dive with Hawksbill and Green Turtles, ensuring that every encounter is a positive interaction and that it does not affect the natural behavior and movements of the turtle. If you are diving or snorkeling on the surrounding reefs, please take some photos of the turtles, and if there’s a newly spotted one, the good folks there may just give it a name.

Dinner under the Stars at the Sandbank

This might possibly be the ultimate romantic experience, that’s if you are looking for a real wow factor. The private sandbank is just a five minute speedboat ride away from Six Senses Laamu. Your hosts will create the mood by doing things like lighting candles and lamps on the table and on the sand. A personal chef will prepare a delicious barbecue dinner as the sun seemingly drops into the sea.  And you can sit back and enjoy discrete services and listen to the waves gently lap against the shore.

Cruise in the Sense of Freedom for a Day

At Six Senses Laamu, there’s this experienced captain and his crew who run a yatch known as Sense of Freedom. They usually invite guests to embark on an extraordinary adventure which starts in the late morning and finishes with a sunset dinner on the beach. The day starts with pole and line fishing, then jumping off the yacht and snorkeling on the reef surrounding a private island; or enjoying the sun on the sandy beach. A picnic is prepared on the island with your menu of choice (or the fish you caught). In the late afternoon, the Sense of Freedom will make its way back to the resort, making one last stop on the private sandbank just before the sun sets, where you can enjoy signature sunset mocktails. The evening ends with a private barbecue on the beach.

Healthy Eating

A wellness menu is available via In-Villa-Dining and in Longitude, which includes fresh, healthy and creative dishes designed to enhance a sense of wellness. All the dishes are prepared with fresh vegetables and herbs from the organic garden. With dishes including spiced corn-fed chicken breast, grilled spiced local tuna, and mung beans and vegetable curry, there’s something for all guests. As for the little ones, a daily changing menu is available in Longitude and the Chill Bar. The little persons menu aims to draw their attention towards organic and healthier cuisines and at the same time make sure that they enjoy every single thing on their plate.

Private Cinema Screening

Rediscover Maldives: 10 Things You Can do at Six Senses Laamu ResortA true Six Senses Laamu Resort experience is one that is unexpected. If you have booked for a cinema screening under the stars, you can upgrade your experience by opting for a private movie screening on the sandbank. You can watch whatever is showing while you relax under the stars and discover Maldives ocean breeze. Oh, there is popcorn and fresh juice on offer as well!

Meet Gentle Giants

Since Six Senses Laamu Resort is in partnership with the Manta Trust, a non-profit organization that monitors, records and helps protect the manta populations throughout the world; twice a day the on-island Manta Trust team dives at “Manta Point” (aka Hithadhoo corner) which is a cleaning station for manta rays just a few minutes away from the resort. An experience available to advanced open water divers, you will be given a brief on how to sustainably dive with mantas and how to take a photo of the mantas’ in order for them to be photo-identified later. And if you are the first one to spot a manta that has not yet been identified, they may get a chance to name it! How cool.

Finally you can also bring your kids to Six Senses Laamu and rediscover Maldives together. They can join a host of educational and creative activities in addition to having family villas with a pool specially designed for families like yours. The same children can join activities such as island hopping, fishing and can also have their first diving experience with the “Bubblemaker” if they are old enough (8+ years).
