Hair fall has become one of those topics that are like a cup of coffee because most people I know are facing some form of hair fall or hair loss. And by this, I mean them losing more than the usual 100 strands we are supposed to in one day. Being in this kind of a hairy situation can be a bit stressful, and it’s made worse when we try different remedies that never seem to work.
So, I took up this topic again and spoke to a couple of experts about how this issue can be solved. The one thing both seemed to agree on was that it’s quite important to know the reasons for your hair fall before you start looking for a solution.
Possible Reasons and Solutions for Your Hair Fall
Poor Diet
Sometimes we tend to go on a certain diet for reasons only known to us and our ancestors. What you might not know is that the so-called diet might not have what your hair follicles need to thrive because it’s lacking in essential vitamins and fatty acids, which leads to your poor strands falling.
Solution: Have a balanced diet with plenty of nutrients like omega 3 fatty acids, iron, zinc and vitamin D, which are the answer to a strong and healthy mane.
Hormonal Imbalances
Excess Oestrogen is one of the leading causes of hair loss. For instance, most women face hair loss when they are pregnant or after giving birth. This is because the estrogen levels during this time are very high.
Solution: Address the cause of your hormonal imbalances, and if pregnancy/birth the only reason you are facing hair fall, everything should be back to normal before the cows come home. If it’s not, then your specialist will find a way to balance your hormones.

Psychological Stress
Psychological stress is another reason that has been proven to cause and accelerate the loss of hair. Sometimes it will just fall off, and in extreme situations, you’ll find the person pulling the hair out.
Solution: In extreme cases, psych help is the answer. But in the not-too-extreme cases, it is important to find a way to overcome the stress before you end up with a hairless head. Try exercise, yoga or therapy, and start focusing on a stress-free life with a lovely head of hair. Namaste people, Namaste.
Harsh Hair Products
Some of your hair products like that latest shampoo or conditioner might contain harsh ingredients that can easily affect the health of your hair follicles, which can lead to the poor things falling off. These harsh ingredients include sodium lauryl sulfate and silicones, just to name a few.
Solution: Keep yourself updated on what ingredients are bad for your hair so that the next time you are out buying hair products, you know what to look out for so that you can keep your distance and stop the hair fall.

Physical Stress
Traction alopecia is another leading cause of hair loss because it’s brought about by physical stress to the scalp. For instance, rocking a ponytail or the latest braids might look awesome, but your scalp might disagree because it’s suffering. This is because the pony or braids are tugging too tightly on the scalp, which leads to minimal blood-flow to the follicles, hence the hair fall.
Solution: All you have to do is to loosen your pony and the braids. But then again not every head is made for braiding. Some scalps are quite tender, while others can handle whatever is thrown at them without any hair fall.
