Move over coconut oil there’s a new boss in town. In case you haven’t caught on, olive oil has kicked coconut oil to the curb and is now being touted as one of the most magical moisturizing hair oil treatments. And just in case you are wondering if prolonged use of olive oil can cause protein build up in your hair, well, the answer is no, if you do the olive oil hair treatments right.
See, hair has porous shafts hence can’t hold onto its natural moisture. This leaves your hair dry and brittle. When this happens, why not then just douse your hair in olive oil which is rich in vitamin E, vitamin A, and fatty acids? The olive oil will be absorbed and the best thing is that the benefits last even after washing.

Hot oil treatment
Olive oil hair treatments are a luxury that every hair texture will love. Just one use and your hair is left super soft and silky. Frequent application of this treatment (I’d recommend once a week) yields healthier and more moisturized hair.
Let’s break down what you’ll need and how this simple procedure is done
You’ll need 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 3 drops of essential oil (feel free to pick your favorite), and infused herbs such as chopped up rosemary, parsley, chamomile tea or black tea. The essential oil that I use often when I’m preparing my hot oil is sandalwood. It leaves this amazing scent that’s to die for. If you have dandruff or an itchy scalp use tea tree oil.
The preparation is quite simple, take a plastic bowl and pour the olive oil in. Take another bigger bowl with water in it and place the bowl with olive oil in and heat it up. Once it’s perfectly warm add the essential oil and your choice of herb. Strain and transfer into a bottle, which will make it easier to apply.
Part your hair into sections and apply ensuring you coat it all the way through. Cover the hair with a shower cap and leave it on for about 30 minutes then rinse off.

Just by looking at the ingredients of this hair mask, you can tell it’ll leave you with really moisturized hair. Bananas are a great source of moisture, eggs are an excellent source of protein, then add olive oil to the mix, and hello glorious hair.
How to
Take one banana and mash it using a fork, beat two eggs and add them in. Finally, add olive oil and mix(or just throw them all in a blender). Strain using a muslin cloth to avoid getting chunks of banana stuck in your hair. Apply on your hair evenly, cover and let it sit for an hour. Rinse out with cold water and shampoo normally.
