JW’s Steakhouse Facts
The Chef de Cuisine and F&B Manager who opened the JW’s Steakhouse are still there!
The Chef de cuisine, Mohammad Iqbal came to Dubai in 1993. He worked in the in-room dining kitchen before joining the opening team of the JW’s Steakhouse. Since then he has perfected the art of cooking a steak. Being part of the pre-opening team at the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai, Hector Mendonca – the F&B manager – was actively involved in creating the restaurant concept and is bringing its vision to life even today.
There is a certain unique cocktail on the menu named after one regular guest
Who would not love to have a cocktail named after him/her? As a way of honoring one of their regular guests at the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai, the team created a special concoction named “Christini” and put it on the menu. This drink features all his favorite ingredients!

The JW’s Steakhouse Wall of Fame
Regular guests who have visited JW’s Steakhouse more than 24 times receive a plaque with their name on their favorite table. One funny story is that a couple of years ago, there was a guest who could not wait to get his personal plaque. So he visited the Steakhouse daily for 24 days in a row to get his name on the table as quickly as possible. Don’t worry stranger, I would do the same too. Also, guests who finish a 25 oz. filet mignon steak and a bottle of Esser Merlot grape receive a name plaque on the “Wall of Fame”. To date, there are 758 names on the tables and 978 successful “Wall of Fame” conquerors.
The JW’s Steakhouse is worth a stopover in Dubai
Once upon a time, a group of guests had a one-night stopover in Dubai. They were also looking forward to their dinner at the JW’s Steakhouse. But they realized that due to their delayed flight, the restaurant would be closed by the time they arrived. So they called the hotel ahead. And fortunately enough, the good folks over there kept the restaurant open. Why? So that the guests could enjoy a memorable stopover at the JW’s Steakhouse before their onward flight the next morning!

Turning back time with the original menu including prices from 1995
To celebrate the 21st anniversary of JW’s Steakhouse, Chef Iqbal is turning back time. This means he will be serving the original opening menu with prices from 1995! In my opinion, this is a unique opportunity to re-visit the classic steakhouse. Also, if you haven’t tried it, it will be worth your while to discover this hidden treasure in Dubai.
JW’s Steakhouse is located within the JW Marriot Hotel in Abu Baker Al Siddique Rd Deira, Dubai. Just don’t be tempted by the Bavarian cuisine at the Hofbräuhaus next door and go there instead. Because for me, no matter how much I try to be strong, I always end up there. Guten Appetite!
