For centuries, hair loss and baldness have always been perceived as something that only men suffer from. This, however, is not entirely true because women as well experience some form of hair loss too. The big issue is that some females I’ve met (and many more out there), believe there are no hair loss treatments for women, which is just another myth.
When a woman experiences hair loss it becomes a bigger problem than when a man starts facing hair loss. This is because it may come with stigma in addition to the psychological effects. There are however some instances where hair loss in women should not raise an alarm such as when it’s caused by age, menopause, hormonal imbalances and normal day to day activities. Such kind of hair loss should not be an issue as the hair usually comes back when the body adjusts to the changes.
Research has shown that there are some forms of hair loss treatments for women, which if done by a professional, will restore the person’s mane. If one decides to undergo these hair loss treatments, she might be required to use one or a combination of the treatments and at times stay for months before they start seeing the results. But at the end of the day, it is well worth it. Dr. Ahsen Farooque, a Hair Loss Treatment expert in Dubai, let us in on some of the leading hair loss treatments for women available today.
Different Hair loss treatments for women;
Hair transplant for women
Hair transplant, which is one of the most popular hair restoration options, involves harvesting hair grafts from the back of the head, where the hair is genetically superior, and transplanting it on the bald area. The harvested grafts are usually divided into individual hair follicles, then slits are created on the bald patch using specific needles then each follicle is planted in the slits. After a while, the transplanted hair will grow anew and it will look as natural as ever without a hint of surgery. The new hair can be cut, colored and treated just like your normal hair.
Laser Hair Therapy
This is one of the non-invasive hair loss treatments for women, which is painless, fairly safe and easy without any known side effects and has little to no downtime. With this treatment, you can achieve fuller, thicker, shinier and healthier looking hair as well as increased hair elasticity and strength. Laser hair therapy, apart from stimulating hair growth, it also stops hair loss progression and repairs damage caused by chemical products.

Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) for hair loss treatment
Platelet-rich plasma PRP is a hair loss treatment which uses one’s own blood. Our blood is made up of blood cells and plasma; the plasma has white blood cells and platelets which are packed with growth factors. These growth factors promote new hair growth by stimulating the activity of the hair follicles.
During the treatment, some blood is drawn from the patient’s arm and centrifuged to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the scalp directly at the level of the hair follicles. Treatments are done once a month for the first three months and thereafter every three to six months. Results can be seen as early as two to three months after the first procedure.

Acell hair regrowth therapy
Acell is normally combined with PRP (platelet rich plasma) for optimal results. Acell activates adult stem cells or follicular progenitor cells while PRP is packed with growth factors which promote localized cell growth and rapid angiogenesis. The combination helps the hair follicles become larger, healthier and produce more robust hair growth.
Minoxidil
Minoxidil is one of the many over the counter hair loss treatments for women and men. It works by increasing blood flow on the scalp, therefore, increasing follicular size and hair shaft diameter. It also stimulates and prolongs hair growth in addition to preventing further hair loss. Results can be visible from six months onwards but the treatment only works as long as you are using it. Once you stop the treatment the hair loss resumes.

Another “treatment” you might consider is simply changing your diet – I’ve heard many stories of people who cut certain things out of their diets (usually grains or dairy) and saw great improvements in their alopecia.
Completely agree. Diet can play a big role in hair loss. After all, we are what we eat. Thanks for stopping by 😉
