Green Peel Facial: Is this Green Herbal Peel All It’s Cracked up to be?

Is the Green Peel Facial all it’s Cracked up to be? I Tried It…

Green Peel Facial: Is this Green Herbal Peel All It’s Cracked up to be?Here I go again. A while back, laser and skincare therapist Amira Nassar reaches out and tells me she finally has the Green Peel facial treatment and that she thinks it would be great for my skin. I get a bit skeptical because the last time I had a chemical peel, it was Cosmelan 1 & 2, to treat some pigmentation issues, which left me traumatized for a hot minute. Back to the Green Peel facial; I agree to do the green herbal peel because I trust Amira and she knows my skin quite well, not to mention the Zaatar bread she’s always feeding me.

What is the Green Peel Facial?

Unlike chemical skin peels, the green herbal peel is a skin peel treatment that’s made up of natural herbs. The Green Peel treatment was created by one Christine Schrammeck in the 80s, and today it’s being used worldwide by a whole lot of medical aestheticians and dermatologists. The green herbal peel treats a number of skin issues like diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving the skin’s texture, increasing hydration, skin discoloration, scarring, stretch marks, and improving acne-prone skin among others.

Green Peel Treatment Methods

The peel comes in three different strengths or treatment methods depending on what you are looking to treat. There’s the Green Peel Fresh Up, which is quite gentle and simply gives you an immediate visibly fresher and radiant skin. Second in line is the Green Peel Energy, which gives a regeneration and vitality kick to your skin by targeting the problem and healing it through regeneration. And finally, there’s the Green Peel Classic, which simply gives you completely new skin in 5 days! As per my therapist’s advice, we went for the Energy level, because she was targeting uneven skin tone, and I wanted to improve my skin’s texture. As for the non-existent fine lines and wrinkles, I have Botox to deal with that.

The Treatment

The Green Peel facial started off with the usual cleansing, but this time it was a deep cleanse (3 times). Then she applied a calming facial form mixed with some skin-friendly minerals. After cleansing, it was time to apply the Green Peel herbal mixture, which she brushed onto my skin then started massaging the herbal particles into my skin in circular motions. The relaxing massage took about 5 minutes, and the whole time my skin felt like it had been sprayed with pins and needles, but don’t worry, it wasn’t painful at all.

The green herbal peel mixture was left on for another 11 minutes or so before it was cleaned. Then thinking that was it, she applied some type of essential herbal oil and deeply massaged my entire face until I was half a step from dreamland. The final step was a hydrating/calming mask which stayed on for 30 minutes, and after it was off, I was free to go about my business (not forgetting the sunscreen though).

My Take on the Green Herbal Peel

This treatment, unlike the previous ones, was different because Amira did not glove-up. She used her bare hands throughout and explained that with this herbal peel, the therapist needs her bare hands so that she can feel the depth at which she is massaging (I know, I didn’t understand either but it’s ok).

Would I recommend it?

Definitely! I must say this is one of those treatments where you can not only feel, but you’ll also see the difference immediately after the herbal peel. Other than the pins and needles feeling when I touched my face, nothing else bothered me. The pins and needles lasted for about 48 hours and they were gone. My nose had a very slight peel for about 3 days, which was ok with me, and finally, my skin was visibly radiant, quite smooth, the pores were totally minimized, and it looked brighter. The Green Peel facial was way better than the Glycolic Acid Skin Peel, which I did a while back. And was it worth it? Hell yeah!
