What are your festive holiday plans? Will you be spending those cosy days in the city, maybe take a road trip to the mountains, the wilderness, or down at the beach? Well, if you’re undecided, you are not alone. We are living in uncertain times, and most of us are not sure if travelling is the best idea, which means it would be a very different holiday season this year. But that said, there are some who are keen on travelling, and we are not going to hold them back. Actually, we are going a step further and introducing them to a tropical Christmas at Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa.
You see, Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa is insisting that we trade in our traditional Christmas trees (sorry, mine is already up) for some luscious, tropical palms, and celebrate the festive season on the Raa Atoll this year. The resort, which is a 5* member of Leading Hotels of The World, promises a socially distanced, activity-filled, restorative winter holiday.
Some of the series of activities and initiatives at Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA that have been planned to delight anyone staying over the festive season, have been thoughtfully included within the resort’s fabulous Deluxe All-inclusive offering, which means you won’t have to venture out of the designated area.
Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa Festive Must Do
Warming Up: Christmas Tree Decoration (22nd December)
To mark the start of the festive period, you are invited to take part in the resort’s decorations. The magnificent Christmas tree will be embellished with marine-inspired elements and the décor will reflect the Ocean’s natural colour palette, with touches of blues, green and silver. Following the hard work, you will be rewarded with a cocktail by the Sunset Pool Café, a Flair Show and a live DJ set from 10.30 pm onwards.
Cooling Down: Pool Party and Beach Activities (23rd December 2020)
Emerald’s large main pool invites you for a socially distanced pool party, accompanied by BBQ delicacies and refreshing cocktails, as well as fresh coconut stations. If you are a sports enthusiast, you will be able to test your volleyball skills during Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa very own volleyball tournament and challenge your family and friends.
Christmas Eve: Carol on the Beach (24th December 2020)
A totally unique experience, you are still invited to join the resort team on the Water Sports Beach for one of the most traditional Christmas activities: attending the Christmas carol play, with the sun diving into the Indian Ocean as a backdrop. A change of scenery follows, with the Gala Dinner at the resort’s signature Aqua restaurant, located just a few steps from the sea and boasting panoramic views of the ocean framed by the clearer starry sky.
Christmas Day: Brunch with Santa (25th December 2020)
Cutting waves on his jet ski, Santa will make his scenic arrival at Emerald on Christmas morning, joining everyone for the Christmas Brunch at Aqua. From 6 pm, if you’re an adult, you are invited to a one-of-a-kind wine tasting, in the setting of the Sun Set Pool Café while the micro-humans will be seated at the resort cinema and served ice creams, popcorn and marshmallows, that they can grill in the kids-friendly barbecue.
On the 27th of December, the resort will organise a traditional Maldivian night, including a live Bodu Beru performance at Aqua Restaurant, while on the 29th the team will prepare an extraordinary Full Moon wine dinner (USD 150++ per person) for those who wish to taste the menu by the water for the ultimate barefoot luxury dining experience.
New Year’s Eve: Countdown on The Beach (31st December 2020)
End of the year celebrations starts at 7 pm when the Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa management will host a cocktail evening on the beach, with live music performances. Moving to Aqua, Chef Aldo will be ready to impress you with New Year’s Menu and to welcome 2021, you are invited to the Sunset Pool Café for New Year countdown and a glass of champagne.
What about COVID-19 risks, you ask?
To ensure the safest environment, Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa has implemented several measures – including COVID-19 testing on-site, temperature checks, luggage surfaces disinfection, a mobile sterilization UV light disinfectant and electrostatic sprayer with grade disinfectants used to clean villas and all other public areas – and has appointed a new dedicated Hygiene Manager that is working as a team with the resort on-site Doctor. These measures have been verified and approved by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC), a division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association. Actually, Emerald is the first resort in the Maldives to achieve the GBAC STAR™ certificate. For more information and to book, please visit www.emerald-maldives.com
