Of all skin types, dry skin is considered the most problematic as it needs constant attention and moisturizing. If you are one of those who suffer from this, then you know some of the factors that antagonize it, like the weather, nutritional deficiencies, aging and genetic predispositions. There are some skincare products and treatments, like HydraFacial, which can relieve dry skin, but they usually come at a price. However, you don’t have to break the bank to manage dry skin. This is because there are some dry skin home remedies that can be quite effective, with long lasting effects.
Dry Skin Home Remedies
Coconut Oil
As one of the top dry skin home remedies, coconut oil contains fatty acids that replace and seal in moisture within the skin. To make it work for you, apply warm coconut oil on your skin immediately after taking a bath or shower or just before going to bed and wash it off in the morning. This will not only seal in the moisture but also make your skin smooth and soft (I can attest to that).

Milk
Milk contains lactic acid which exfoliates dead skin cells in addition to moisturizing. It also has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that help with dry and itchy skin. Mix 3 table spoons of milk with a few drops of rose water then rub the mixture on your skin. Leave it on for about 20 minutes then rinse.
Honey
Honey is one of the best natural moisturizers as it is packed with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. It makes the skin extra soft and smooth. It also has minerals and vitamins that are great for the skin. All you have to do is rub it on the affected areas, wait for 15 minutes then take your shower.
Yogurt
Apart from hydrating the skin, yogurt has some soothing properties. Its lactic acid content also contributes in getting rid of bacteria and germs that cause dryness and itchiness. Rub fresh natural yogurt and leave it for 10 minutes then take a shower. This will exfoliate your skin and leave it refreshed.

Olive Oil
Olive oil is loaded with fatty acids and antioxidants that soothe and condition dry skin. You can apply a thin layer of olive oil before applying your regular moisturizer.
As usual, before trying these dry skin home remedies, do a patch test to make sure you are not allergic to any of them. And if you are already allergic, stay away from them.
