Ever since I started my Botox journey, which has always been quite popular among the ladies, I’ve had nothing negative to say about it. Once a year I always make sure to put aside 15 minutes where I’ll be having my lunch with a side of Botox. But then again, a while back, I came to realize that men also love a little Botox, which they’ve nicknamed Brotox – meaning ‘Botox for bros’ or simply Botox for men.
So, I’m revisiting the topic again, because I know a few good men who are keen followers of Botox for men, among other cosmetic treatments. Also, I’ve heard a few whispers of ladies asking how they can approach their significant others to have a little Brotox. They all do it for various reasons, but have one reason in common – it makes them look less tired and grumpy.

Botox for Men Statistics
According to statistics from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), Botulinum Toxin type A has ranked the most popular non-surgical procedure with a total of 4,931,577 procedures amongst which 650,550 were done by men. Not only this but in our previous posts, you might have seen that men are moving more towards plastic and cosmetic surgery, from laser hair removal for men, to getting that coveted six-pack through abdominal etching.
That said and done, I approached our regular board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon Dr Rory McGoldrick with this topic, as well as why the trend is causing such a boom in the market. According to him, it’s not really a trend, as one who’s not accustomed to cosmetic surgery might think. But then again it’s true that more men are jumping on the Botox bandwagon.
Reasons Why Men Get Brotox
He goes on to explain that most men who are choosing the Brotox way, don’t really want to look younger, but to look more relaxed without anybody noticing that they’ve done something related to cosmetic surgery. “Most people looking to have Botox for men are what I would call corporate junkies who simply want to look more attractive and relaxed and still maintain that mature edge.”
Another reason is mostly for career advancement in a highly competitive job market. After all, according to some studies, a youthful appearance allows men, and women as well, to generate more revenue than their older-looking colleagues, which is an important asset in a leaner workforce. Also, if you are job-hunting, your chances of getting a job faster than your older-looking mate becomes high.
A third reason for the growing numbers of Botox for men is simple vanity. Men have become quite open-minded about cosmetic surgery, and they don’t see it anymore as a women’s forte. After all, it’s all about equality. For instance, it’s quite easy to find a man who is not over-weight at all, choosing to have liposuction simply because he wants the elusive six-pack. Vanity has become the norm. And you can’t look pretty and grumpy at the same time. So, to answer the above question, yes Brotox can make you look less grumpy.
