Aging is part of life, and no matter what we do, we can’t avoid it. It all starts with the wrinkles; crow’s feet, saggy skin and then, loss of volume just to mention a few. But the best part about aging for those of us who are not in a hurry to get there is that we can delay it. There are a bunch of cosmetic procedures one can do to delay or reverse the clock, and then there are some simple everyday anti-aging secrets you can follow without having to face a plastic surgeon (not that I’m against plastic surgeons). Listed below are some simple anti-aging secrets you can include in your day-to-day life to keep your skin looking younger and fresh.

Day-to-day anti-aging secrets for a Youthful Skin
Drink enough water
The key to a younger-looking skin is keeping it moisturized, and nothing works better than doing it from the inside-out. By moisturizing your skin, you will see big changes including radiance, improved skin tone, and texture.
Use a high spectrum sunscreen religiously
Yeah, you’ll never tire of hearing this but protecting yourself from the sun is very important, especially when it comes to delaying the aging process. UVA rays, which penetrate deeper into the skin than UVB rays, are responsible for this catastrophe of premature aging. It can lead to aging, wrinkles, sun-spots and skin pigmentation, not to mention sunburn.
Get enough sleep
When we sleep, the body, including the skin, regenerates itself. So, if you don’t get sufficient shut-eye (like 6-8 hrs. a night), you will not be giving your skin cells enough time to renew themselves. Which means the will be carried forward leading to a tired-looking and older skin. See the benefits of sleep…
Make vitamin C your friend
Nutritional factors play a key role in how the skin functions. In a 2007 study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers discovered that those people who had foods rich in vitamin C had fewer age-related dry skin and less wrinkles than those who did not.
Put down that glass
We’ve all heard about how having a glass of this or that every night will make you live longer (keyword glass). Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean you take 3 glasses, followed by shots. All in all, alcohol dehydrates your skin, making it appear dull and tired, which in turn makes you look older. I guess I’ll just stick to ‘one’ glass.
Don’t be too salty
In other words, stop taking too much salt. We all know that taking too much salt makes your body retain water, which leads to a puffy face among other areas. Speaking of puffy, did you know that puffy under-eyes make you look older? I’ll let you stew on that…
Stop sleeping in your makeup
I know the feeling when you are about to jump into bed then you remember you have to wash your face. It’s tempting and sometimes we do it (once in a while), but the next time you tell yourself that it’s a one-off, remember sleeping in your makeup makes your skin look old. This is because the skin needs to regenerate while you sleep, and to help it along, you need to apply your serums or what you use in you PM skincare routine.
That said, I hope these anti-aging secrets can help you somehow. So, your turn; what are your go-to anti-aging secrets for the skin?
