Amazing Benefits of Aloe Vera to Help You Get Along

7 Amazing Benefits of Aloe Vera

7 Amazing Benefits of Aloe VeraI’ve always known about the amazing benefits of aloe vera, but this was sort of triggered the other day when I saw one of the girls in the office planting one in the garden. She kept going on and on about how aloe vera is a skincare staple for hydration and smoothness and many other things. Another office person found us, but unfortunately, she had no clue that good old aloe vera has benefits. She thought the plant is just another weed in the garden. So after that conversation, I decided to write a post on some of the amazing benefits of aloe vera, and here we are.

A Gift from Centuries Back

Botanists believe that the aloe vera plant dates as far back as 6000 years (but then again where did the first aloe come from?). The plant was used by different cultures in different ways back in the day. The Pharaohs used aloe vera during funerals while the Native Americans called it the ‘wand of the heaven’. Cleopatra – the queen of beauty – made it part of her beauty regimen, and the Greeks used it to treat almost everything from insomnia to baldness.
This plant that contains an extremely bitter gel is made up of about 96 percent water and proteins which contain organic and inorganic compounds, and vitamins A, B, C and E.

I like aloe vera for its skin benefits but I’ve always wondered how people manage to ingest it. When I was growing up, we used to see it in the forest just sitting there by itself, not knowing how much it will come to be appreciated in a few years.

The Amazing Benefits of Aloe Vera
Eases Heartburn

Aloe vera has some anti-inflammatory properties that tend to soothe the esophagus and the stomach lining. When juiced, the liquid treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which causes chest pain and heartburn.

Treats Hemorrhoids

7 Amazing Benefits of Aloe VeraJust the thought of Hemorrhoids makes me wince, but that’s a story for another day. The same anti-inflammatory properties of aloe vera can alleviate intestinal problems and bowel irregularities. It can also diminish inflammation from the inside and out. This reduces the pressure brought on by strain and makes things easier to pass along.

Hair Conditioner

Tough hair? No worry because the amazing benefits of aloe vera are here for the rescue. The plant’s gel helps in cell regeneration and its proteolytic enzymes remove dead cells and repair the hair. It can moisturize, strengthen, and add shine to the hair leaving it looking smooth and glossy. You can even use it as a leave-in treatment or as a conditioner after shampooing your hair!

Reduces Dandruff

The anti-inflammatory (again) and antimicrobial properties in the aloe gel soothe the scalp and helps it fight against infections. Aloe removes the dead cells from the scalp which always tend to clog your hair follicles.

Anti Wrinkle Agent

Well, this is one of my favorite amazing benefits of aloe vera. Since the skin is always prone to those pesky fine lines and wrinkles as it ages, you need something to delay the aging process. And if you are not into cosmetic treatments, you can always use aloe vera. It improves the elasticity of the skin in addition to moisturizing it, which makes it more supple and smooth, with a youthful glow.

Reduces Acne and Clears Blemishes

7 Amazing Benefits of Aloe VeraThe same anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agents in the aloe are the ones that reduce acne. The polysaccharides, on the other hand, stimulate the growth of new cells which speed up the healing process for acne and prevent acne scarring.

Reduces Sunburn

Aloe vera soothes and reduces inflammation brought on by over-exposure to the sun. It helps in retaining the skin’s moisture, which heals the sunburn over time.

As usual, before you embark on experimenting on these amazing benefits of aloe vera, seek medical advice (from a real doctor), or do a patch test before applying it anywhere. Also, it is important to remember that what works on Jane might not work on Fatima, or you.
